2020 MotoGP World Championship
Round 12, Grand Prix of Europe
Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, Spain
Sunday 8 November 2020, 15:00 CAT
Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso will need to start making up major ground in the riders’ standings when MotoGP moves to Round 12, the Grand Prix of Europe, at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on Sunday 8 November 2020.
The Italian should have been one of the favourites for the World Championship when it became clear the rival Marc Marquez would be ruled out of the season due to injury, but the 34-year-old has struggled for consistency through 2020.

Wrestling with a machine which has sometimes lacked balance, Dovizioso has claimed one win in this campaign (at the Austrian Grand Prix back in August) but has otherwise managed just one other podium finish – a third at the season-opening Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
This leaves him fifth on the riders’ standings on 109 points – 28 adrift of the pace set by championship leader Joan Mir of Suzuki. In this season where surprise results have been the norm, Dovizioso could yet make a late surge for glory, but it will need to start this coming weekend.

The rider himself seems to hold little hope of a comeback in the final three rounds of the season: “I don’t have the speed to do it, I can’t really think about the championship,” said Dovizioso.
He added, “For now we go to Valencia without saying we will try to end with optimism, because this is not the situation. In November we will be on two tracks [a double-header at Valencia, followed by Portimao in Portugal for the final race] where anything can happen, even in terms of the weather.”
