2024 Formula One World Championship
2024 Hungarian Grand Prix
Round 13
Hungaroring
Mogyoród, Hungary
Sunday, 21 July 2024
Charles Leclerc will be determined to become the first Ferrari driver to win the Hungarian Grand Prix since Sebastian Vettel won the race in 2017.
Most recent race
The Monégasque failed to secure a podium spot at the British Grand Prix on 7 July which was the most recent race in the 2024 Formula One World Championship season.
Leclerc started on the 11th grid and slipped down which saw him finish 14th - failing to collect a single point from the race as his Formula One world title ambitions took a knock.
Formula One title ambitions
The 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps driver remains third on the World Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 150 points.
Leclerc is now 105 points behind leader, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and 21 points behind second-placed Lando Norris of McLaren.
Why Leclerc could win the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix
The two-time FIA Pole Trophy winner has failed to secure a podium spot since he won the Monaco Grand Prix in May - finishing outside the top three in four successive races.
This will make Leclerc more determined and hungry to win the Hungarian Grand Prix to revive his ambitions of winning the Formula One world title.
What did he say?
"We had a good start today but unfortunately, the race didn’t play out as we hoped on my side. The rain was increasing from lap 15 and we thought it would get stronger so we pitted for Inters," Leclerc said after the 2024 British Grand Prix.
"It may have been an aggressive choice, but it seemed that it could be worth it at the time, considering the feeling that I had in the car and our weather prediction. Unfortunately, the rain was only really strong enough for those tyres a few laps later and my tyres were worn down by then,
"So that we had to make another stop. It went wrong and we have to review our race and make sure we can maximise every opportunity going forward."
