Liverpool will hope for a glorious end to the 2018/19 Premier League season when all 10 Round 38 matches are played simultaneously on Sunday, 12 May 2019.
‘Pool claimed a dramatic 3-2 away win over Newcastle United this past Saturday, which at the time took them to the top of the table. It was also an eighth successive league victory and extended their unbeaten run in the English top flight to 16 matches.
However, Manchester City have since reclaimed top spot and head into the weekend knowing that a win at Brighton & Hove Albion will secure the title. Jurgen Klopp’s side must win their home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers and hope that the Seagulls do them a massive favour on the South Coast.
Yet even if Liverpool win and are still denied a first title since 1990, it will still have been a brilliant league campaign in which they could end with just one defeat and a haul of 97 points – that’s a higher points tally than Manchester United (who have won 13 titles in the Premier League era) ever managed.
If Liverpool can’t win the title, at least Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah could end as the leading goal scorer. The Pharaohs star has 22 strikes to his name, two more than nearest chasers Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) and Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.
