Both Espanyol and Villarreal will be aiming to register their first win of the
2021/22 Spanish LaLiga season when they meet at RCDE Stadium on Saturday evening.

Espanyol marked their return to Spain's top-flight with a 0-0 draw at Osasuna last weekend. They won promotion back to LaLiga after winning the Segunda Division last season.
Villarreal, who are still beaming from their Europa League success, got their campaign up and running with a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Granada.
“Insufficient result for the hard work that the players put in for the 90 minutes. In the first half, we found it hard to adjust to a team who press very well," said Villarreal manager Unai Emery following the match.
“Throughout the game, the team did enough in the first half to win it. I would have liked the team to be more fluid and have more continuity in the way we played. There were a lot of interruptions. The final result leaves us unsatisfied, as we were unable to win the first game at our stadium," he added.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2019/20 season in which Espanyol were relegated. In that season,
El Submarino Amarillo won 1-0 away before Espanyol registered a 2-1 win at the Estadio de la Cerámica in the reverse fixture.
