Nigeria will be seeking their maiden victory against Angola when they lock horns in the
2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Friday, February 2.
The two teams have only met twice previously which came all the way back during the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign as the Black Sable Antelopes finished top of Group 4 after beating the Super Eagles 1-0 in Luanda before holding them to a 1-1 draw in Kano.
Jose Peseiro's side remain unbeaten in the tournament, having picked up seven points in Group A with a record of two wins and a draw, while they dispatched Cameroon 2-0 in the round of 16 on January 27 courtesy of Ademola Lookman's brace.

The Southwestern Africans made history when they defeated neighbours Namibia 3-0 in the last 16 as it was the first time they had won a knockout match at the continental showpiece.
Angola surprised many as they secured top spot in Group D with a tally of seven points after registering wins against Mauritania (3-2) and Burkina Faso (2-0), having shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Algeria first up.
Peseiro has warned his players not to take the Black Sable Antelopes lightly in their quest for a fourth AFCON title.
"I am telling them that we are only in the last eight, that we still have some way to go, and that the farther we go, the tougher the opposition becomes. We have played four matches and won three, so we must keep level heads as we go forward, he told

"Our philosophy is that there are no small teams here at the Africa Cup. Every team qualified to be here, and every team in the knockout phase qualified from a group phase.
"Any team in the last eight is good enough for the trophy. We believe we are good enough for the trophy, but we must continue working and putting out our best on matchdays."
Pedro Goncalves is already starting to dream big as his team are just two games away from reaching a first-ever final.
"Whoever reaches the quarter-finals has to aim to go as far as possible, and the furthest possible is to reach the final and propose themselves as a candidate for victory," Goncalves said.
