Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic will tussle it out with youngster Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals of the 2024 Wimbledon on 12 July.

Previous round

Djokovic eased into the semi-finals after his quarter-final opponent Alex De Minaur of Australia withdrew from their match due to a hip injury on 10 July.

The last quarter-final match of the day (19 July) saw Musetti defeat USA's Taylor Fritz 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in a stunning performance to reach the semi-finals.

Wimbledon record

Djokovic is one of the most successful players in the history of the Wimbledon men's singles title having won the trophy seven times between 2011 and 2022.

The Serbian sports icon has won a record 24 Grand Slam men's singles titles, including a record ten Australian Open titles, a record 71 Big Titles, and a record 40 Masters.

While Musetti is having his breakthrough campaign in the Wimbledon having reached the singles semi-finals for the first time after defeating Fritz.

The 22-year-old Italian starlet has won two ATP Tour singles titles and he has also won two titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour, and two ATP Challenger titles.

What was said

"Yeah. He probably knows better than me the surface and the stadium for sure," Musetti said about facing Djokovic in the semi-finals.

"I mean jokes aside he’s a legend especially - I mean everywhere but here in Wimbledon in the last years he made something really unthinkable for anything.

"I had the chance to play against him a lot of times so we know each other pretty well. Always been a huge fight so I expect a big, big fight and I think it’s going to be one of the toughest challenge on tour," he added.

"But I’m an ambitious guy and I like to be challenged. I'll try my best, I try to put my 100 per cent effort and let’s see what’s going to happen."

Head-to-Head record

This will be the seventh meeting between Djokovic and Musetti in a professional tournament.

Djokovic has the upper hand in this rivalry having won five matches compared to Musetti's one victory.

Their last meeting ended in a 7-5, 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 win in favour of Djokovic in the 2024 French Open third round in June.
