The 2024 US Open is poised to take place at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA between 13 and 16 June.
 
What to know about the tournament 
 
Established in 1895, this event is the third of the four men's major golf championships and is on the official schedule of the PGA Tour, the European Tour, and the Japan Golf Tour.
 
Since 1898 the competition has been 72 holes of stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course), with the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes.
 
News 
 
The US Open organisers have announced the two additional players, namely Adam Scott and Robert MacIntyre who earned full exemptions into the 2024 US Open which is the 124th edition.   
 
This brings the number of fully exempt players to 84. Additionally, four alternates from final qualifying were added to complete the 156-player field.
 
Favourites
 
The 2024 US Open field will be headlined by the defending champion Wyndham Clark and world number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler.
 
Rory Mcilroy, Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm, Ludvig Aberg, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, and Max Homa who are in the top 10 on the Official World Golf Rankings will be part of the 156-player field.
 
Clark, Fitzpatrick, Rahm, Tiger Woods, Bryson DeChambeau, Gary Woodland, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Martin Kaymer are some of the former US Open winners that will be present.
 
What Is At Stake 
 
The field will be competing for a total 2024 US purse of $20 million, with the winner taking home $3,9 million and also receiving 750 FedEx Cup points.
 
Furthermore, the champion gets a gold champion's medal and the US Open Cup, which the winner is allowed to keep for a year.

"It’s an amazing opportunity, especially as an amateur," Mexico's Santiago De la Fuente said about taking part in the 2024 US Open after he won the annual Latin American Amateur Championship in January.
 
"I think a good result is great when you’re a professional, but it’s even better if you do it as an amateur. So I think just having this opportunity right before I turn professional is a privilege. 
 
"My goal this week is just to take advantage of it as much as possible."
