Lando Norris will be looking to start the new
Formula One season with a win by clinching the Australian Grand Prix.
What to know about Norris
The British racing driver made his Formula One debut in 2019 and qualified eighth at the Australian Grand Prix, finishing the race in twelfth place.
Norris has achieved four race wins, nine pole positions, 12 fastest laps and 26 podiums in Formula One as of the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,
2024 Formula One season performance
Norris finished as the runner-up in the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 2024 with McLaren - behind champion Max Verstappan of Red Bull Racing.
The 25-year-old took pole at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and led from lights-to-flag in his fourth win of the season, which secured McLaren's first Constructors' title since 1998.
Why Norris could win the 2025 Australian Grand Prix
The 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championship winner secured a podium spot in the 2024 Australian Grand Prix as he finished third behind the Ferrari duo of Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc.
Norris will be looking to build on a successful 2024 season and he will be determined to set the tone by winning the Australian Grand Prix.
What did he say?
“I’m excited to get the 2025 season started in Melbourne! It’s a special track for me as this was where I made my debut with McLaren back in 2019," Norris said.
"This circuit has been good to us in the past, and hopefully, we’ve carried our momentum from 2024 into this year. We had a productive test, but we won’t know where we stand until Qualifying on Saturday.
“I think this should be a very exciting season with a lot of close racing. There’s going to be a lot of competition, which should hopefully make it exciting for the fans to watch. I’m ready to get the season started!”
