AC Milan head into Sunday's match having fallen down to second spot on the league standings after a shock 2-0 loss at Spezia. The Rossoneri have lost three of their last seven matches, which has subsequently seen them surrender their position at the summit of the Serie A standings.

"We are not a team capable of winning dirty games," Milan head coach Stefano Pioli told DAZN.

"We have tried to focus on quality, intensity and rhythm and not on hard work. Spezia won deservedly. It was the classic bad game for us. We have to start again with conviction. We must react and we certainly will."

Romelu Lukaku scored twice for Inter in a 3-1 win over Lazio this past weekend. Victory stretched the Nerazzurri's unbeaten run to six matches and moved them top of the standings, a point above their fiercest rivals with whom they share a stadium.

“We have shown that we are starting to be a team with a capital T, which begins to manage moments with maturity, we are on track and this is very important," said Inter head coach Antonio Conte following their latest win.

“The boys deserve this kind of satisfaction. Having said that, for us it must be a starting point and certainly not a point of arrival. There are 16 games left, we must continue to work like this."

The rivals have already met on two occasions this season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice for the Rossoneri in a 2-1 win at the San Siro in the reverse league fixture, but Inter beat Milan by the same scoreline in a Coppa Italia match last month. Romelu Lukaku, like Ibrahimovic, found the back of the net in both matches.
