2019/20 Premier League
Round 26, part I
8-9 February 2020
Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford will meet for a crunch relegation battle at the AmEx Stadium on Saturday 8 February 2020, kick-off at 18:30. The match is one of four spread from 8 to 9 February as part of the 26
th round of the
2019/20 Premier League season.
Brighton come into the clash having showed great character in their 3-3 draw away to West Ham United last weekend, twice fighting back from two goals down to salvage a point. However, the Seagulls have six games without a win across all competitions and sit just three points above the relegation zone.
Manager Graham Potter is hopeful the draw with the Hammers will be a turning point. “Again, we weren’t perfect but I thought over the course of the game we were the better team,” he explained, before adding: “You can see there is enough in the group, there is enough in the team that can get points and get us up the table.”

Watford, meanwhile, have suffered three successive losses across all competitions, with their latest setback a 3-2 loss at home to Everton in which they squandered a 2-0 lead.
“It’s disappointing and clearly the players are a bit down at the moment as I would expect them to be, but we keep working,” explained manager Nigel Pearson. “We get back to work [in training] and get on with it because this game is now gone.”
In head-to-head stats, Brighton and Watford have met in 115 previous matches. The Seagulls have claimed 45 wins compared to 36 for the Hornets, while 34 games have been drawn.
When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at Vicarage Road in August 2019, Brighton claimed a 3-0 away win thanks to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure, Florin Andone and Neal Maupay.
