Serie A
Matchday 33
Monza vs Napoli
Stadio Brianteo
Monza, Italy
Saturday ,19 April 2025
Kick-off is at 18h00
With Napoli making their bid for the 2024/25
Serie A title, Antonio Conte and his charges will now look ahead to their crucial matchday 33 clash against Monza at Stadio Brianteo on Saturday.
The Italian giants bagged a convincing 3-0 win against Empoli in their most recent league tie as goals by Scott McTominay (2) and Romelu Lukaku were enough for Napoli to bag maximum points at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Speaking after the game, Conte expressed that he told his players to leave no stones unturned at the half-time break in their quest to see out the tie positively.
"Today, at half-time, I told the players to approach the second half as if the game was still 0-0, and to go out and win it," Conte said.
"The response was excellent. The performance was a very high level, and I believe the crowd appreciated it, too. We are in an emergency, but I don’t want my players to have excuses. We are there, three points below [Inter].
"Our target was to disturb, and we've been disturbing a team that has proved to be really strong, not just in Europe. A complete squad that is doing really well in Europe.
"I think somebody, the newspapers and the media, should thank Napoli for keeping the title race alive.
"Otherwise, we would be talking about a finished season, and there would be fewer talks on TV shows, and fewer newspapers would be sold."
Monza on the other hand, go into their game against Napoli sitting in last position on the table.
Alessandro Nesta and his charges suffered a 1-0 defeat against Venezia last time out, which happened to be their third loss on the spin.
Overall, Monza are now on a 12-match winless streak in Serie A and recorded 10 defeats during this period.
