Jon Rahm will be looking to maintain his lead at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings by winning the
2021 Open Championship.
The Spanish star climbed to the top of the rankings last month after winning this year's U.S Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, San Diego, California.
Rahm made a birdie on each of the final two holes to become the first U.S Open champion from Spain and win his first major championship.
The 26-year-old has won 13 professional tournaments including the 2019 Zurich Classic of New Orleans (with United States' Ryan Palmer).
His best career finish at the Open was a T-11 in 2019 which took place at Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
In June 2021, Rahm was forced to withdraw as the defending champion from the Memorial Tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test.
However, the man nicknamed Rahmbo marked his return to professional golf with a win at U.S Open and he will be hoping to win his second golf major at The Open.

Rahm became a new father in April this year and he feels a greater responsibility to perform on the golf course.
“I know I can perform at my best without showing my frustration so much. I made that deal with myself after the third round of the PGA,” Rahm said last month.
“I wasn’t happy with how I ended, and I could have handled it better. And I vowed to myself to be a better role model for my son.
"He won’t remember any of this because he’s only 10 weeks old. But I do.”
Harry Vardon is the most decorated player in the history of The Open Championship having won six titles, while South Africa's Ernie Els has won the tournament twice.
