2019 Formula 1 season Round 7
Canadian Grand Prix
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal
Sunday 9 June 2019
Sebastian Vettel will chase a second straight win at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal when Round 7 of the 2019 Formula 1 season, the Canadian Grand Prix, is held on Sunday 9 June.
Vettel enjoyed a great weekend in Canada in 2018, claiming pole position and the victory for Ferrari to move into first place on the Drivers’ Championship standings.
A year on, the Ferrari driver is nowhere near the leading duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes cars, though he has at least moved into third position on the standings.
This is thanks to his second place finish at the Monaco GP, finally breaking the Silver Arrows’ run of 1-2 finishes in the 2019 season – though it took some misfortune for Bottas (who suffered a puncture) to see Vettel get ahead of him.
Ferrari and Vettel will hope that the streets of Montreal prove a happy hunting ground again, though news of engine upgrades for the Mercedes means the Scuderia will need to bring their A-Game to have any chance of upsetting their rivals.
