2018/19 La Liga
Round 36 preview
3-5 May 2019
The battle for fourth place on the log will take centre stage in Round 36 of La Liga, with Getafe and Sevilla best placed to steal a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Sevilla are fifth on the log following a 1-0 loss away to Girona this past weekend, but they’ll have the chance to put the pressure on their rivals by winning at home to Leganes in the opening game of the round on Friday 3 May.
Getafe will then have to respond with a match at home to Girona on Sunday afternoon, while Valencia – who are on the fringes of the race for fourth – could make up ground when they play away to Huesca later the same evening.
As for the newly-crowned champions, Barcelona, are likely to field a second-string team for their match away to Celta de Vigo on Saturday night, ensuring their top players are fresh for the second leg of their Champions League clash against Liverpool next week.
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are away to Espanyol on Saturday and at home to Villarreal, who appear to have put almost enough daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.
Down at the bottom of the log, Real Valladolid, Girona and Levante are fighting hard to avoid joining likely relegation candidates Huesca and Rayo Vallecano in going down. Girona have a tough match in taking on Getafe, while Valladolid and Levante are at home to Athletic Bilbao and Rayo respectively.
