Memphis Grizzlies will square off with Los Angeles Lakers in the
National Basketball Association (NBA) match on April 16.
Head-to-Head
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Grizzlies and Lakers in the NBA playoffs.
However, the Lakers have the edge in this rivalry having recorded 63 victories compared to the Grizzlies' 39 victories from 102 NBA regular season games.
Last Meeting
Dennis Schroder recorded 17 points, six rebounds, and nine assists for the Lakers as they defeated the Grizzlies 112-103 on 8 March 2023.
Therefore, the Lakers improved to 32-34 on the season, while the Grizzlies fell to 38-26.
What Is At Stake
The winner of the series between the Grizzlies and Lakers will go head to head with either Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semi-finals.
The Grizzlies have never won the NBA championship and they are looking to change this season, but they are up against a Lakers side that is eyeing a record-extending 18th title.
Key Players
The Grizzlies will pin their hopes of defeating the Lakers on Jaren Jackson Jr. who recorded 26 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks for the Memphis side against the LA giants last month.
On the other hand, Anthony Davis, who recorded 30 points, two blocks, and a season-high 22 rebounds for the Lakers as they defeated the Grizzlies, is the player to watch out for in the LA side.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham has backed point guard D’Angelo Russell who has struggled for form lately.
“I have all the confidence in the world in D’Lo. We’re going to need him on this run that we plan to make, starting with Game 1 at Memphis," Ham said.
"He’s just got to be able to snap back and bounce back. It’s a long season. Some nights are night going to be your night.
"Again, that’s why you try to fortify your roster with multiple players who are capable, once you call their number, they are able to not just gobble up minutes but get minutes and play at a high level and that just happened to be Dennis tonight.
