2023/24 Italian Serie A
Matchday 3
Atalanta BC v AC Monza
Gewiss Stadium
Bergamo, Italy
Saturday, 2 September 2023
Kick-off is at 19h45
Atalanta BC will face AC Monza in a
Serie A match at the Gewiss Stadium which is also known as Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on 2 September.
Current Form
The Goddess suffered a 2-1 loss to Frosinone Calcio away on August 26 as their two-match unbeaten run in the competition came to an end.
However, Atalanta are undefeated in their last two home matches in the league having recorded two consecutive victories at the Gewiss Stadium.
Meanwhile, Monza emerged as 2-0 winners over Empoli FC at home on August 26 as they snapped their three-match winless run in Serie A.
However, the White and Reds are winless in their last two matches on the road in the league having registered two successive defeats as the away side.
Team News
Atalanta have no suspension worries but the team will be without the trio of Hans Hateboer, José Luis Palomino and El Bilal Touré who are all out injured.
The good news for Monza is that the team has no players who are currently reported injured or suspended ahead of their encounter with Atalanta.
Quotes
"It wasn't the approach, they were going stronger than us. It also happened last year, we struggle to keep this tempo," Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini said after his side's loss to Frosinone.
"In the second half, when the pace drops, we manage to play a different game. We missed some chances, even easy ones, and this game came out.
"We know that in certain situations we struggle, when the games take other turns, we manage to straighten it out. This is also a new season, it's a very tough season for us and we must have a lot of humility. Talk is of little use."
Head-to-Head
Atalanta hammered Monza 5-2 in their last meeting in Serie A which was on 4 June 2023 at the Gewiss Stadium.
Therefore, the Goddess boast of an unbeaten record against the White and Reds in Seria A having won both their two matches.
This is Monza's second season in the Italian top-flight having been promoted for the first time in 2022.
