Brazil and Peru will meet for the second time in the 2019 Copa America when they contest the final, set for the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday 7 July, kick-off at 21:00.
The teams’ first meeting was in the group stage of the competition, on June 22 in Sao Paulo. Brazil handed out a 5-0 beating, thanks to goals from Casemiro, Roberto Firmino, Everton, Dani Alves and Willian.
Los Incas have recovered wonderfully well to reach the final since that heavy defeat, and will be eager to get some revenge against the host nation.
Overall, Brazil and Peru have met in 45 previous matches. A Selecao have dominated the rivalry, claiming 32 wins compared to just four for Los Incas.
Peru’s last win over Brazil was not that long, ago with the team in red and white claiming a 1-0 triumph in a Copa America match played in Foxborough, United States in June 2016.
However, Los Incas have not beaten A Selecao on Brazilian soil since a friendly 1-0 win back in April 1985.
