2021/22 Italian Serie A

Matchday 19

Verona v Fiorentina

Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi
Verona, Italy
Wednesday, 22 December 2021
Kick-off is at 18h30

Fiorentina will be seeking only their second win against Verona in six attempts when they lock horns at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi in Serie A on December 22.

La Viola beat the Gialloblu 2-1 in the corresponding fixture last season after they had shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi a year ago.

However, the Tuscany outfit's last victory prior to that was in September 2017 when they thrashed the hosts 5-0 in Verona.

The two clubs have met 12 times in the Italian top flight, with Fiorentina winning on six occasions compared to three for the Venetians.

Verona head coach Igor Tudor has hailed his team's mentality and fitness levels after they recently came from three goals down to beat Venezia 4-3.

"This squad has always had quality, but the mentality makes the difference, that and running more than anyone else," Tudor said.

After an indifferent start to the season, Vincenzo Italiano has put Fiorentina's recent good form down to a killer instinct in front of goal.

"The difference now from earlier in the season is that we are more effective in front of goal and take more of our chances, which in turn allows us to play with more calm once the deadlock is broken," Italiano said.
