2022/23 Italian Serie A
Matchday 23
US Sassuolo v SSC Napoli
MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore
Reggio nell'Emilia, Italy
Friday, 17 February 2023
Kick-off is at 21h45
US Sassuolo will battle it out with SSC Napoli in an
Italian Serie A match at the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore on February 17.
Current Form
The Black and Greens held Udinese Calcio to a 2-2 draw away on February 12 and the draw extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the league.
Sassuolo defeated Atalanta BC in their last game at home and the win ended their three-match winless run at the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore.
While Napoli thrashed US Cremonese 3-0 at home on February 12 as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches in Serie A.
The Little Donkeys are also undefeated in their last three matches on the road having registered three consecutive wins as the visitors.
What Is At Stake
Sasssuolo have been inconsistent this season which sees them placed 15th on the league standings - 10 points above the relegation zone.
They will be keen to secure a win over Napoli in order to move further away from the relegation zone, but the Little Donkeys are the most in-form team in the league.
Napoli are sitting pretty at the top of the log - 16 points clear of second-placed Inter Milan and a win over Sassuolo would move them closer to clinching the Serie A title.
Team News
Sassuolo defender Jeremy Toljan will miss the game as he is out injured, but his fellow right-back Mert Muldur is edging closer to returning to action.
Meanwhile, Napoli have no suspension concerns, but Min-jae Kim will be suspended for one match if he is booked during the game against Black and Greens.
Key Players
It seems like Victor Osimhen cannot be stopped at the moment as the Serie A top scorer has scored in four consecutive matches and he is currently on 17 goals for Napoli.
While Davide Frattesi is the Sassuolo player to watch out for as the Italian attacking midfielder has netted five goals from midfield in the current league campaign - making him the team's top scorer.

Quotes
"Our city, our fans, they care about what we are doing here. [They understand] the possibility that we can do important things," Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti said.
"Everyone could see, perhaps too much, that we weren't as calm as we usually are in the first half. We got a little nervous, and it was more difficult.
"Cremonese played wide and we lost energy having to defend the balls they put into our penalty area. But it was much better in the second half," he added.
""I applauded [the crowd] because that's what they do for our team. Our players are ready to destroy themselves on the pitch for a result."
Head-to-Head
Napoli proved too strong for Sassuolo as they emerged as 4-0 winners in their last meeting in the league which was on 29 October 2022 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The win extended the Little Donkeys' unbeaten run against the Black and Greens to four matches in the Serie A having recorded two wins and two draws.
