Burkina Faso will take on Tunisia in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final match on January 29. 
 
The Stallions secured their spot in the last eight after defeating Gabon 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in a Round of 16 encounter on January 23.
 
The victory extended Burkina Faso's unbeaten run to three matches in this competition having recorded two wins and one draw.

The Stallions lost their first game which was against the hosts, Cameroon and they have since secured wins over Cape Verde and Gabon, and also drawn with Ethiopia. 
 
“Of course, what remains for us to do is to learn from this meeting against Gabon and that, we know there are lessons to be learned," Burkina Faso coach Kamou Malo said after their win over Gabon.
 
"There is also satisfaction because don't forget that it's a round of 16. That's how it's going to be played. Not winning this match at the end of the 90 minutes, we can harbour some regrets but we must also tell ourselves that anything can happen in such circumstances.
 
"I think what we are going to remember for the moment is to savour our qualification acquired after a hard fight because the opponent attacked us, that too, we must recognize".

Meanwhile, Tunisia progressed to the quarter-finals after securing a 1-0 win over Nigeria in the Round of 16 match on January 23. 
 
It was the Carthage Eagles' second victory in their last three matches in this competition, while the other game ended in a defeat. 
 
The North African giants began their 2021 AFCON campaign with a defeat to Mali, before defeating Mauritania and losing to the Gambia in their final Group F game. 
 
The last meeting between Burkina Faso and Tunisia was on 28 January 2017.
 
Burkina Faso defeated Tunisia 2-0 in the 2017 AFCON semi-final match which was played at the Stade d'Angondjé in Gabon.
