Nigeria will look to make an impact at the 2019 Women’s World Cup when they participate in a tough Group A from 7-17 June.
The Super Falcons are appearing at their eighth successive WWC (having qualified as winners of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations) but looking to progress beyond the group stage for just the second time – their only advancement beyond the first round came back in 1999 when they reached the quarterfinals.
Nigeria will open their Group A campaign on Saturday 8 June with a clash against Norway at Stade August-Delaune in Reims (20:00). The Norwegians have won both of their previous games against the West African side.
The Super Falcons will then move onto Stade des Alphes in Grenoble on Wednesday 12 June to face Korea Republic for the first time. They qualified as only the fifth-best finisher at the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
Nigeria wrap up Group A in Roazhon Park in Rennes on Monday 17 June with a game against hosts – and one of the tournament favourites – France.
Thomas Dennerby, the coach of the Super Falcons, will hope his side can punch above their weight and progress into the knockout round for just the second time in their history.
