Francesco Bagnaia will be looking to climb to the top of the 2022 riders' standings by winning the
Australian Grand Prix.
The Ducati rider has mounted a strong challenge for the MotoGP world title in the last few months - winning four consecutive races at some point.
Bagnaia secured a podium spot at the most recent event in the current season which was the Thailand MotoGP on October 2 - finishing third.

The Italian started third on the grid at the Thailand GP which was delayed by almost an hour due to torrential rain and he maintained his spot until the end of the race.
Bagnaia finished behind his teammate Jack Miller who scooped the runner-up spot as Miguel Oliveira of KTM won the race at the Buriram International Circuit.
Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo is still placed at the top of the table with Aleix Espargaro placed third.
Bagnaia is placed second in the standings and he will move up to the top spot if he wins the Australian MotoGP with two races left in the current campaign.

“For sure now it will be more intense. In the last three races I will have to be very, very intelligent and smart in all of the situations because I think our potential is very high," Bagnaia said after the Thailand MotoGP.
"But I can’t make mistakes as I did in Japan or before the summer break. So, be smart, and try to understand every situation. We already know in Australia the forecast will be very cold.
"So we will have to adapt. But anyway, I think we can be very competitive.”
Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Aprilia and Yamaha respectively.
