Over the last 10 National Football League (NFL) seasons the quarterback position has accounted for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on nine occasions, with former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson the only non-quarterback to win the award since 2010.
Over the last decade, Tom Brady has won the award on two occasions while Peyton Manning won his fifth and final MVP award in 2013.
Lamar Jackson is the most recent MVP winner, having spearhead the Baltimore Ravens to a 14-2 record in the AFC North. But where does his season rank amongst the best seasons of the last decade?
10. Tom Brady - New England Patriots (2017)
Arguably the greatest quarterback of all-time, Brady's most recent MVP season came three years ago.
He led the Patriots to a 13-3 regular season record with 32 passing touchdowns (eight interceptions and 11 turnovers) on 66.27 completion percentage and 4,577 passing yards. Harsh to say, but the worst of his MVP seasons.
9. Matt Ryan - Atlanta Falcons (2016)
In a career defining season, Ryan helped the Falcons to a 11-5 record with 38 passing touchdowns (seven interceptions and nine turnovers) on 69.85 completion percentage and 4, 944 passing yards.
While the Falcons' defence struggled, Ryan spearheaded one of the best offences in the division that season. Although equally brilliant in the playoffs he comes in at ninth on this list of MVP seasons over the last decade.
8. Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers (2014)
The second of his MVP seasons came six years ago and he nudges just ahead of Matt Ryan on this list.
Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 12-4 record with 38 passing touchdowns (five interceptions and seven turnovers) on 65.58 completion percentage and 4,381 passing yards.
7. Tom Brady - New England Patriots (2010)

The second of his MVP seasons, Brady was superb throughout and threw just four inceptions as he led the Patriots to a 14-2 regular season record.
In total, he posted 3,900 passing yards and 36 touchdowns on 65.90 completion percentage while he'd ended the regular season with a passer rating of 111.0 to top the league, as he went on to become the first player to win the MVP award unanimously.
6. Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings (2012)
The only non-quarterback on this list, Peterson won the award with the Minnesota Vikings in 2012.
It was going to take something special to break the quarterback dominance and Peterson did just that as he rushed for 2,097 yards, falling just eight yards short of Eric Dickerson's long-standing regular season record. He also ran in 12 touchdowns.
5. Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravnens (2019)
Jackson enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in which he established himself as a serious run and pass threat.
He led the Ravens to a 13-2 record (he sat out the final game of regular season) with 36 passing touchdowns on 66.1 completion percentage. He threw 3,127 passing yards and rushed for 1,206 yards -- and NFL record for a quarterback, while he scored seven touchdowns himself.
At 23 years of age, he is the second-youngest player to ever be named MVP while he is also only the second player after Tom Brady in 2010, to receive every vote for the accolade.
4. Cam Newton - Carlona Panthers (2015)

Newton dominated the league as the Panthers recorded a 15-1 regular season record in 2015.
He threw 35 passing touchdowns (10 interceptions and 14 turnovers) on 59.9 completion percentage, but while these numbers fall short when matched up against players lower on this list, Newton did register 10 rushing touchdowns for 4,473 total yards.
At only 30 years of age, Newton -- who will leave the Panthers before the start of the new season -- has all the talent and credentials to reignite his career and make a run for a second MVP.

3. Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers (2011)
One could make an argument for any of the top three to be ranked first on this list and it is unfair that Rodgers, who set the current NFL record for passer rating (122.5) comes in at third place.
He lad the Packers to a 14-1 record in the 15 regular season games he played in, throwing 45 touchdown passes (just the six interceptions) on 68.3 completion percentage and a total of 4,643 yards (9.2 yards per pass attempt).
An incredible season by all accounts, which is up there with the very best for a player who will go down as one of the very best of all time. Even more special if you consider Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford and Tom Brady all racked up over 5,000 passing yards that very same season.
2. Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs (2018)
At just 24 years of age, it is scary to think what the current Super Bowl champion could still achieve in his career.
Mahomes lit up the league in 2018 as he spearheaded the Kansas City Chiefs to a 12-4 record, throwing an incredible 50 passing touchdowns (12 interceptions) while he ran in for two rushing touchdowns himself.
With a total 5.097 passing yards on 66.03 percent completion percentage, Mahomes recorded one of the best seasons in history and became only the eighth different quarterback to pass 5,000 yards in a regular season -- quite an incredible feat.
1. Peyton Manning - Denver Broncos (2013)

Ranked right up there as one of the very best quarterbacks in history, Manning's fifth and final MVP season was arguably his best.
He led the Denver Broncos to a 13-3 record on 68.29 completion percentage, 5,477 yards passing (NFL regular season record), 55 passing touchdowns (NFL regular season record) and one rushing touchdown, with 16 total turnovers.
An amazing season made even more special by the fact that Manning had to fight his way back from a serious neck injury sustained two years earlier.
